    As machinery capabilities improve and more facilities use high-pressure coolant pumps, mist is more likely to occur during processing. After processing is complete, it is also common to see mist filling the factory when the door is opened, deteriorating the working environment. To address such challenges and improve the factory environment, we developed FogFree.
    Duct hoses and extra space for a mist-collecting system disrupt maintenance. Choosing a built-in mist collector eliminated these issues, improving design aesthetics and reducing the burden on factory layout.

    FogFree is a product designed to efficiently capture mist generated within multitasking machines and CNC lathes, aiming to improve the working environment for operators.
    There are growing global demands for improving factory environments. I expect it will lead to an increased installation rate of mist collectors. However, traditional standalone-type mist collectors take up space and sometimes require lengthy piping, impacting space arrangement and mist collection efficiency. This time, by designing a built-in mist collector tailored for our multitasking machines, we have successfully addressed these challenges, not only saving space but also significantly enhancing mist collection capabilities.
    Maintenance for a built-in mist collector has been another agenda for us.     The most notable feature of the conventional Compact Loader is that a machine’s height remains the same even after being mounted with the Compact Loader, and it has met with a good reputation. However, we also have frequently received requests from our customers for improvement in the setup process. In developing the Compact Loader servo, we have improved the repeated positioning accuracy to be equivalent to that of a gantry loader by changing the vertical axis operation to the servo drive. This change makes it possible to set the teaching point more precisely, thus improving setup performance.

    The Compact Loader servo is a very compact built-in automation system that can be installed without affecting the height of standard machines. This system is very popular with customers whose factory has low ceiling heights, making it difficult to install automation systems such as a gantry loader or with customers who want the flexibility to use the gantry loader system along with a bar feeder. By changing the operation of the system’s axes partly from conventional drives to the servo drive, the setup performance has been greatly improved, and the transporting speed has further increased.     After seven years have passed since the predecessor WY-100II was released, the WY-100V was developed to endeavor a higher value-added multitasking machine in its renewal. The most significant feature is its high-speed capability. To minimize idle time, we have developed a new technology called “ChronoCut” while also achieving higher spindle speeds, increasing milling speeds, and improved torque on the hardware side. As a result, we have successfully reduced cycle time by 30% in an actual machining case, as demonstrated with the sample workpiece below.

  • Solar Electric Panels are Installed on Factory Roof to Reduce CO2 Emissions

    HAKUSAN, ISHIKAWA – Nakamura-Tome Precision Industry Co., Ltd. (CEO Shogo NAKAMURA) has installed a photo-voltaic system on the roofs of Plant 11 and Plant 12 since December 8, 2022, to supply clean electricity for the entire plants and buildings in the area of Netsuno side within the premises.

    This installation is expected to generate approximately 1.33 million kW annually, covering about 20% of the annual electricity demand for the entire Netsuno side area. All of the generated electricity will be used for captive consumption, predicted to reduce CO2 emissions by approximately 521 tons annually.

    Nakamura-Tome has been taking environmental and energy-saving measures by introducing factory LED lighting, updating air conditioners, installing demand controllers to control peak shaving, and adding ECO-friendly functions to multitasking machines.

    To incorporate more renewable energy sources in the future, the company terminates the ZERO CO2 emission power source that has been on contract with the power company since 2021, and promotes further energy-saving and energy-generation to produce machine tools friendly to the earth and people.

    The Path Checker is a function that can check a tool path in real time and confirm interference while making a program. Confirming the tool path quickly without transferring to the simulation screen as editing the program is possible.

    Moreover, a cursor moves to a corresponding line of the program automatically when you touch an arbitrary part of the tool path drawing. This function enables you to identify and modify the related program. The Path Checker excels in operability and expects to reduce programming time.

    To confirm the tool path while programming, users had to transfer from the program processing screen to the simulation screen in the past. We received voices that it took too much time to check the program and interference. Therefore, we developed the Path Checker that contributes to making a high-quality program faster and improving productivity efficiency by checking the tool path while programming without a complicated setting.

    The SC-200 II is a high-rigid single-turret multitasking lathe that can process powerful and stable machining. Although the machine’s size is in 8” class, it holds a maximum turning diameter of 390mm and a swing over cover diameter of 700mm, ensuring a large machining area. It enables the machine to equip a 10” chuck. The output of the spindle motor has been increased to 15/11kW (Op. 18.5/15kW), making it superior to the previous model. In addition to the improved spindle motor output, the bar capacity and Y-axis side travel have also been improved to give it the ability to achieve a one-rank higher machining capacity.

  • Oscillating Cutting Gets Even Easier to Use! Newly Equipped New Screen Makes Setup Easy!

    HAKUSAN, ISHIKAWA – Nakamura-Tome Precision Industry Co., Ltd. (CEO Shogo NAKAMURA) added a new screen for the Oscillating Cutting to NT SmartX! This screen makes it easier to set the frequency multiplier I and amplitude multiplier K. This screen is from FANUC.

    By changing the arguments, can the chips be broken up? What is the maximum chip length? What is the theoretical surface roughness? Before machining, it is possible to know answers to these questions. This allows for smooth setting without relying on trial and error after machining or relying on PC software.
