HAKUSAN, ISHIKAWA―Nakamura-Tome Precision Industry Co., Ltd. (CEO Shogo NAKAMURA) is delighted to announce the full-scale operation of our new assembly plant, “MAGI,” which was completed in July last year. With this milestone, we have introduced a new production system designed to reduce worker burden, improve production efficiency, and shorten machine lead times.
Introduction of Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVs) As part of our new production system, we have integrated Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVs) into our factory operations, specifically for assembling index units and slides. The AGVs autonomously transport the necessary units for assembly, eliminating the need for dedicated transport workers and freeing assembly workers from the task of fetching parts. This advancement has successfully reduced the monthly man-hours spent on transport by an impressive 480 hours.
Once assembly is complete, the AGVs automatically transfer the units to the stacker. With four pallets set up in each area and the next work parts pre-delivered, we ensure no waiting time, enabling seamless and efficient assembly work. This stacker system has dramatically reduced the lead time, for some model from 25 days to 15 days.
In-House Developed Delivery Management Software To complement our AGV integration, we have developed proprietary software to manage the status, priorities, and assembly schedules of each unit. This software facilitates inventory checks, ensuring that workers are always engaged in high-priority tasks.
By automating and systematizing the flow of delivery, assembly, and shipping or storage of goods, we create an environment where workers can focus more on their core tasks. In the future, we aim to continuously improve quality and efficiency in assembling not only index and slide units but also spindle and tool spindle units, ultimately delivering products to our customers faster and more efficiently.

HAKUSAN, ISHIKAWA—Nakamura-Tome Precision Industry Co., Ltd. (CEO Shogo NAKAMURA) has announced a newly developed chip-breaking function, “Triangle Cut.” The Triangle Cut can be applied to all slide-guided machines, including box-way machines that cannot utilize the Oscillating Cutting function*1. With this announcement, it is now possible to install a chip-breaking function in all of Nakamura’s model lineup.
■What is the Triangle Cut? It is an optional function that processes while breaking chips by operating the turning path in a triangular shape. Drawing a triangular path moves the cutting edge away from the workpiece, and the chips are divided due to air cutting.
■How to use the Triangle Cut? The Triangle Cut can be applied to a concerned machining program section by enclosing it with dedicated G codes of G338 (start code) and G339 (end code).
G338 A__. B__. [C__.] D__. …Turn on the Triangle Cut G01 Z-10. F0.2 X60. X70. Z-15. G339 …Turn off the Triangle Cut
A:Finish allowance (A+C = the height of the triangle) B:Spindle rotation speed until completion of triangle hypotenuse (two hypotenuses) operation C:Clearance amount D:Machining direction

Example of tool path with the Triangle Cut valid
■Advantages and Disadvantages Compared to the Oscillation Cutting, the Triangle Cut tends to reduce the deterioration of surface roughness and can be suppressed to 1.2 to 2 times the level of normal turning. On the other hand, the machining time could be 2.7 to 3 times longer due to the extension of the processing path.

■Development background The cutting chip problem is unavoidable for production sites, and the burden on the production site caused by this problem is also heavy. With the evolution of machinery and servo technology, the Oscillating Cutting function has been put into practical use, and its programming can easily solve chip problems. However, the Oscillation Cutting is difficult to apply to box-way machines because they are at risk of damage due to the high-speed movement of the Oscillation Cutting.
We have received numerous inquiries regarding the application of Oscillation Cutting to box-way machines. To address this issue, we searched for a way to divide the chips reliably and developed the Triangle Cut. Instead of using a special program, we have devised a way to perform chip-breaking operations by adding simple G-code modifications to the processing program already in use. We hope you will use it as a function to solve the chip problem in the field.

Title:[New product] Built-in Mist Collector “FogFree” with saved space and increased suction power
■Development background As machinery capabilities improve and more facilities use high-pressure coolant pumps, mist is more likely to occur during processing. After processing is complete, it is also common to see mist filling the factory when the door is opened, deteriorating the working environment. To address such challenges and improve the factory environment, we developed FogFree. Duct hoses and extra space for a mist-collecting system disrupt maintenance. Choosing a built-in mist collector eliminated these issues, improving design aesthetics and reducing the burden on factory layout.
■Comment from Shogo Nakamura/CEO FogFree is a product designed to efficiently capture mist generated within multitasking machines and CNC lathes, aiming to improve the working environment for operators. There are growing global demands for improving factory environments. I expect it will lead to an increased installation rate of mist collectors. However, traditional standalone-type mist collectors take up space and sometimes require lengthy piping, impacting space arrangement and mist collection efficiency. This time, by designing a built-in mist collector tailored for our multitasking machines, we have successfully addressed these challenges, not only saving space but also significantly enhancing mist collection capabilities. Maintenance for a built-in mist collector has been another agenda for us. Recognizing that there is no mist collector that requires zero maintenance, we designed it with ingenuity and creativity to ensure easy accessibility and manageability for customers. It’s indeed a new product that aligns with our mission to “Cut the Burden of Manufacturing.”
HAKUSAN, ISHIKAWA – Nakamura-Tome Precision Industry Co., Ltd. (CEO Shogo NAKAMURA) launches a new precision CNC multitasking lathe, “SC-200IIL”. While it inherits the main specifications of the SC-200II and its concept of “Next level machining,” the SC-200IIL evolves into a machine capable of machining long workpieces by adopting a long bed to prolong the distance between the centers. This development allows users to select the R-side specifications from the sub-spindle or NT tailstock units.
■Development background Customer requirements for maintaining machining accuracy and durability are becoming increasingly demanding each year, requiring higher performance capabilities. In order to meet this, SC-200IIL has been developed to make the conventional SC-200L even easier for the customers to use. The high-rigid slant bed hiring the box-way slide is capable of adapting heavy cutting and high precision machining, ensuring high machining rigidity, workability, and accuracy.
■Comment from Shogo Nakamura/CEO SC-200II is our new multitasking machine with the concept of “Next level machining.” Since this machine is capable of processing large materials that should be normally performed on a machine in a one-rank larger size, the SC-200IIL can deliver favorable changes to factory floors. Another appeal of this machine is that the sub-spindle “MATA-BEI” can be selectable on the R-side spindle, allowing end-face machining, and realizes consecutive machining from a blank material to finished parts in a single machine. This machine was developed collaboratively with various departments within the company, coming together to work on it. We hope that many customers will see the actual machine.
